Why does my leather hide contain holes and other defects?
Leather in itself is a piece of art manufactured by Mother Nature. It is one of the materials that have served mankind well since our beginnings. Until today, leather is being highly regarded as a symbol of undoubted quality and function.
However, as this is a 100% natural product, it cannot be 100% perfect. Holes and other defects like insect bites and scars are inherent in the skin of the animal while they were alive. Holes normally come about at the shoulder area of the hide as many breeds of cows have a hump on their back. As cows thrive in tropical areas, insects bites cannot be avoided. Other scars can also occur as a result of fights or scratches from the wire fences.
Why does the colour differ by a few shades even though I ordered the same code of leather?
As iterated above, leather is a natural product and thus, batch to batch or even hide to hide, the qualities will differ by a bit. Thus, the ability of the hide to absorb the dye will also differ, thus resulting in slightly different hues in the colour. Whilst every effort has been made to ensure that the colours are similar, sometimes, very slight differences in colour cannot be avoided.
However, it is exactly this property of leather which has made it such a popular finishing for many branded products. As the leather ages, the colour will mature and bring out the character of the leather which synthetic leather cannot replicate.

What is the minimum order quantity for customizing leather?
Realistically speaking, it is not cost-effective to customize leather for a small quantity as the costs will be very high.
For example, to customize a colour, tanners will need to obtain the correct dye and process the leather in a separate drum. Thus, a reasonable amount would be around 5000sq ft for customizing colours or type of leather.
Do not be daunted by the MOQ. Custom-making leather will set you apart from the crowd!

Fool-proof.

How do I tell the quality of the leather?
The quality of leather is not easy to tell based on touch. Even experienced upholsters would have trouble telling the quality of the leather by touch alone. The experts in the field apparently can even use smell to tell the quality.
By our experience, the best way to tell the quality of a leather is by the most obvious and primitive way. The price. Do not be fooled by cheap leather from other sources. Cheap Leather usually means that many steps in the production process was skipped, resulting in a lower quality product.
How do I verify the quality of the leather?
ALWAYS ask for the lab report of the leather. It will squirrel out the pretenders to offering premium quality leather

Automotive Leather is usually charged at a premium due to their superior qualities. They are thicker and thus more resistant to stretching, abrasion and other processes that will wear out normal furniture leather.
They are also more resistant to colour fading. As leather in automotives is usually exposed to sun, colour will tend to fade faster. Thus, automotive leather is manufactured exactly to curb this tendency.
Why use automotive leather instead of furniture leather?
